India-A French View- Pran Neville on the pioneering work of French artist F. B. Solvyns who depicted the life in 18th century India through his etchings; https://www.tribuneindia.com/2009/20090712/spectrum/index.htm
Frans Balthazar Solvyns or François Baltazar was a Flemish marine painter, print maker and ethnographer. While living and working in India from 1791 to 1803, he made many drawings of the daily lives of the Indians which he later etched and published.
There is a problem in this article of Mr. Pran Neville in The Tribune. Solvyns was not a Frenchman but a Flemish-born and studied in Holland.
