'The French and their dogs...' - by K.J.S.Chatrath
I visited a small town called Peronne in France in 2017. It is 126 kms north of Paris. It is a commune, with a population of 7800, of the Somme department in Hauts-de-France in northern France.
It is close to where the 1916, first 1918 and second 1918 Battles of the Somme took place during the First World War. I went to this place as there is a British & Indian cemetery here where 318 Indian soldiers, who died fighting and defending Frnce during the WWI, lie commemorated. More on that seperately.
I was amused to find this Saloon for dogs while strolling through the place. The French want their dogs to be as well turned out as their owners. Incidentally it is whispered that the French take a bath rather infrequently and the perfume industry is flourishing because of that. Mais c'est pas vrai!
Ah, these French!
Psst...dont miss the dog crouching in the first floor window of the building.
